For a man who has a serious fear of heights, James Basinger has an odd way of dealing with it. A retired helicopter and airplane pilot for the Oklahoma Highway Patrol as well as a private pilot for businesses in Oklahoma City, James often feels safer in a cockpit than roped into a tree in the gusty Oklahoma wind–even using the proper safety equipment. After climbing hundreds of trees, the feeling of dealing with his fear has never abated. Instead, he holds that the fear sharpens his senses when 45 feet up in the air with a chainsaw strapped to his belt.
